As one of two middle schools in San Carlos, Central Middle School boasts some of the highest test scores in the…More area.</p> <p>STAR scores showed dramatic increases among eighth-graders in history (20 points), science (8 points) and English (5 points), though they did see a decrease in math scores this past year (2 points). Those scores, however, put Central Middle School in the upper echelon of Bay Area middle schools.</p> <p>Principal Lynette Hovland says the school's mission statement is "to create an exemplary middle school in San Carlos for all students by providing a rich curriculum with well-defined standards that empower students to develop and appreciate learning and a commitment to responsible citizenship."</p> <p>For parents, an online service known as "School Loop" is provided to keep them abreast of activities and happenings.
