In case you're not aware, the land parcel carries rights as it has been kept intact since theRead More original land grants long ago, legally that predates any Coastal commission edicts. The Coastal Commission rules do not apply, and that has been upheld in court.

I have the solution !! open a Pit Bull defense training facility on the property. With postedRead More warning signs the owner would not be liable when the dogs chew up the trespassers. Win - Win for everyone. Maybe a wounded rattle snake hospital, hopefully none would escape, but warning signs would limit liability here too. Ha !

As far as Hawaii is concerned, there are many property parcels that have unique land rights thatRead More prevent trespass to the beach or some adjoining property. In this case the beach is not in question, only access through this person's private property.

Please leave these predators in place. The deer population can use a little pressure.

This article was remiss in its omission of bicyclists. A fast bicycle going down a trail canRead More trigger a prey drive in a big cat - and should not be allowed in areas where these predators make their home. I see bicyclists all the time at dusk in these open space areas. Why would a wildlife issue be the purview of the police department? - I often think the police respond inappropriately and too aggressively in these situations; not because they mean to, but because they are not wildlife experts. How about using some common sense and calling in people with training and experience who can come up with solutions that don't involve anyone - including the mountain lion- getting hurt.

Attn: Mr. R. Terry Date: Monday June 09, 2014 It is because of gamblingRead More that some horses and bulls lose their lives. When horses continue to have a losing streak the owner is not making any cash off that horse, it is off to the Glue Factory with that horse. If a horse breaks it's leg in the race it is off to the Glue Factory with that horse. Bulls will die automatically in a Bull Fight after the Matador sticks both swords in the bull's throat from the left and right side of the bull. So don't tell me gambling has nothing to do with your comment. I understood what you were saying. But these animals are going to be killed if there is no money to be made that is all there is to it. The NRA and its gun loving clones are absolutely disgusting.

Let's not loose our heads with this terrible tragedy and jump on the gun control bandwagon. TheRead More first three were killed with a knife. In a perfect land of no guns I belive these killings would have continued. Once again reconizing mental illness was the key.

San Franciscans are ruining their own city. Do you really want to take actions to curb tourism?Read More Tourism that provides valuable tax revenue, income to thousands of people, pumping millions into our economy. I feel the same way about blocking buses in Alamo Square. These people consciously moved to a tourist location and then want to ban the tourists? Get a grip on reality and what those tourists bring to the city. Just like the whole "techies are evil", block tech busses and being against tech firms and residence. People can't get through their heads that these people provide tax revenue and pump millions of dollars into our local economy. The more people of SF do things like block major tourist destinations and combat businesses the faster they are going to move to the Detroit model of city planning.
Geo Kitta May 22, 2014 at 12:11 pm
I hear you loud and clear MM but in the same breath careful what you wish for as some of thoseRead More "techies" are the very ones likely to push this kind of libertarian attitude. Tech booms come and go and change is inevitable but as you say SF's tourism industry is a constant and will always be of economic importance. If people don't like the congestion in these long-standing tourist areas - they should move away from it.

In the area I live, not so famous as SF, people move next to a school or an open space preserve andRead More then lobby to get restrictions on the street in front of their house like resident only parking, no right turn from the main street to their street and no drop off zones. It's disgusting that this can happen when the taxpayers are paying to maintain these (not their) streets. Also, those destinations were there when they purchased their house and they bought it at a market price when those restrictions didn't exist.

I live at the base of Milagra Ridge and for years we would hear owls almost nightly. Now I do notRead More hear them at all anymore. I know this is in part my fault because I trimmed down the 12' of overgrown ivy and put in a fence, taking away the habitat for all the rats that lived there. But I would think that there would be enough other rodents to support. Still see red tailed hawks on a near daily basis. Anyone else notice a decrease in the number of owls in the area?

It says Around Town but the headline is UTAH. Utah is not near Natick!! I think everyone should notRead More open an article on Patch unless they see their town's name in the headline. So If it doesn't say Natick, then we all know it is not LOCAL to the Natick Patch. The less clicks these Patch sites get, the fewer advertisers they will get and then perhaps they will realize if we want sensational news from across the country we'd go back to Patch's former owners AOL and the HuffPost! Those here from other Patch sites - I think you should do the same only click on articles that mention your community's name. No name. No click!

Let's look at the numbers. They say 43.8 Million cars cross the bridge each year... Lets divideRead More that in half to only count tolls paid. At $5 per car thats $ 109.5 million !!! every year !!! Do you want to know where it goes ?---- CalPERS --- in lavish retirement & Health Benefits. Both the Union and management are soaking the public. I'm shocked. The next time you pay the toll just think of the guy sitting in his condo in Florida with a great retirement and a health plan that he pays nothing for... That's where your hard earned cash is going. Enjoy !!
A Delargo April 8, 2014 at 07:53 am
That's only one Bridge !
Mike April 8, 2014 at 11:47 am
A recent TV news report revealed that 50% of the Toll collected on the Golden Gate Bridge is used toRead More subsidize bus and Ferry services for Marine County commuters. Assuming that report is accurate I do not think that bridge toll should have been increased. I do not believe that tolls should be used to subsidize the use of public transit by people who choose to live in an area that requires them to commute to work? Yes, I think that using public transit is a great idea. Yes, we should use it whenever we can. However, why should I or anyone who may use the bridge occasionally be forced to pay a toll that subsidizes commuters from affluent Marin County? There should be consequences for the choices we make and others should not have to pay for the personal decisions of others. For example, for eight years I chose to live in San Jose while working in South San Francisco. I made that choice because for me owning a home in San Jose was more affordable. Prior to making the move I had to consider all things especially the cost of driving my own car, taking the train etc. Because of my work schedule the train or any other form of public transit was not a viable option. So, I downsized from my preferable car of choice to an economic vehicle with great MPH. I also began to search for people who may want to start a ride-share or drive-share carpool. As our country moves to a more Socialist form of government I expect that we will see even more of this sort of thing. Hopefully, the cost will not get to high. Many years ago I knew a man who once lived in a country that was under Communist rule. I have found that man to be very wise person. One day back when I was a teenager I was complaining about having to pay the consequences for my behavior. It was then that he advised me of one of the changes that he experienced by coming to his adopted nation (USA) and he said that he was particularly happy with it. What he said was, “when you live in a free society you get to make choices in which you will either reap the harvest or suffer the failures of those decisions. I may not always like being held accountable for my decisions but, I do like being able to make them”.
