One of the Peninsula’s favorite food events will celebrate its 17th anniversary when the San Carlos Sister City Association hosts its annual Taste of Italy on Saturday, September 21.
Featuring live music, wine and gourmet samples from numerous local restaurants, the Taste of Italy will run from 5 to 6:30 p.m. in Laurel Street Parkin downtown San Carlos. Tickets are $20, available at Clocktower Music and The Chef Shop in San Carlos.
Participating establishments this year include 888 Ristorante Italiano, A-Lot-A Gelato & More, Delizie Cucina and Vino, San Remo Ristorante and Pizzeria, and Viva La Vita. Wine will be furnished by Cuvée Wine Cellars. Dinner will also include salad and bread.
Music will be provided by the Aurora Mandolin Orchestra.
Funds from the event support the association’s charitable activities, particularly its student-exchange program. With financial help from the association, students from the Peninsula recently visited San Carlos’s sister cities of Ōmura, Japan, and Metepec, Mexico. Students from Ōmura also stayed with local families, and students from Metepec plan to visit in November.
