World Series Trophy Coming To San Carlos

The trophy will be available for viewing and pictures June 20.

Vice-Mayor Andy Klein announced at a recent city council meeting that the San Francisco Giants World Series trophy will be on display at Burton Park in San Carlos on June 20.

The viewing of the prestigious baseball trophy was made possible with assistance of Barry Bonds' mother. A San Carlos native, Bonds grew up in the city of good living, attended Serra high school in San Mateo, and has storied roots throughout the Peninsula.

San Carlans will have a chance to view and take photos with the trophy from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on the June 20.

The World Series trophy is the first major baseball championship for San Francisco and was the first for the Giants franchise in 56 years. The won the World Series in 1954 when in New York.

The Giants defeated the Texas Rangers 4-1 to win the series.
