San Carlos Force 14U Wins Softball Tournament

Shortstop Lauren Racioppi keys offense and defense in six-game sweep in Hayward.

Lauren Racioppi collected 10 hits, Sophia Fanucchi won three games and the San Carlos Force 14U softball team won a USSSA tournament in Hayward last weekend.

The Force beat the Nor Cal Blast, a team based in Belmont, 5-3, in the championship contest as Fanucchi pitched a six-hit complete game victory.

The Force scored four times in the top of the seventh to break a 1-1 tie. Jenny Joyner drove in two runs, and both Jess Adair and Kaitlin Johnson also drove in a run.

Racioppi turned a soft liner into a double play in the bottom of the seventh to limit damage.

Joyner also won a game as a pitcher and Angela Castillo won both of her decisions.

The Force (34-6 overall) advance to the national 14U tournament in West Covina this weekend. The Force 10B team is headed to Spokane for their national tournament.

The Force 10C team finished seventh at the Cal State Games in San Diego over the weekend.
