Redwood City's Molly Vandemoer Will not Medal

The first-time Olympian did reach the quarterfinals of her event.

Redwood City resident Molly O'Bryan Vandemoer, with American teammates Anna Tunnicliffe and Debbie Capozzi, lost to Finland, 3-1, in the quarterfinal of the women's Elliott 6-meter Match Racing of the Sailing competition of the London Olympics on Wednesday.

While the Americans will not earn an Olympic medal, they will participate in a showdown with the Netherlands, France and Great Britain Thursday to determine fifth through eighth place.

The Americans went 8-3 in early round-robin competition, including a win over Finland.
