Giants World Series Trophy Coming to Redwood City Friday

The trophy tour is underway, and its mid-Peninsula stop will be in Redwood City's Courthouse Square this Friday afternoon.

Are you a die-hard Giants fan?

If so, you're going to want to mark your calendar, and warn your boss you'll be taking an extra-long lunch break - the San Francisco Giants' 2010 and 2012 World Series Trophies, currently on tour, are making a stop in Redwood City very soon.

As a city which features a Junior Giants youth baseball program, Redwood City was honored with a spot on this year's tour, which is sponsored by Bank of America. Redwood City is one of the only cities on the Peninsula that will get a stop on the trophy tour, along with East Palo Alto and Daly City.

The two trophies will be on display Friday, Jan. 25 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Courthouse Square, 2200 Broadway in downtown.

"It was really important to us this time, given a second opportunity, to create a trophy tour which allowed us to connect with our fans, as well as the more than 20,000 kids who participate in our Junior Giants baseball program," said Larry Baer, Giants president and chief operating officer.

At each viewing event, fans will have the chance to have their photo taken with the trophies - created by Tiffany & Co. - and support their local Junior Giants Baseball League by optionally making a suggested $2 donation to the program.

Obviously the time is not selected for the youth to view the trophy - they will be in school.
