Tutoring Program Looking for San Carlos Volunteers

Healthy Cities Tutoring volunteers will work with students in six San Carlos schools.

Do you have an extra hour or two per week to tutor a local student? Healthy Cities Tutoring will host an orientation and training session in San Carlos on Oct. 24 for any interested volunteers.

According to Donna Becht, Healthy Cities executive director, last year volunteer tutors worked with over 150 students at six San Carlos schools and gave them the important one-on-one help that can make such a difference to a child's success in school.

Tutors meet with their student once a week, for approximately one hour and provide one-on-one support. Tutoring times are flexible and the Healthy Cities staff will work with individual schedules to arrange convenient time.

The orientation and training is scheduled for Wed., Oct. 24 at White Oaks School, 1901 White Oak Way, in the Multi-Use Room. Two training times are available: 8:30 AM - 10:30 AM or 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM. No RSVP is required.

"We always have more students than we have tutors, so your help is greatly needed," said Becht.
