The San Carlos School District (SCSD) will begin accepting centralized registration today for incoming kindergarten and transitional kindergarteners for the 2013-14 school year.
This registration process will continue over the next five months (Oct. 1, 2012 through March 1, 2013), and district officials remind parents that school assignments are not handled on a first-come, first-served basis so there is no need to rush to get your child registered.
Children who will have turned 5 years of age by Oct. 1, 2013 are eligible for kindergarten. Those children who will turn 5 years of age between Oct. 2 and Dec. 2 of 2013, are eligible to participate in the district’s transitional kindergarten program.
Location and hours:
San Carlos School District Office, 826 Chestnut St. (next door to Central Middle School). For additional information, call Carolina De Vito at 650 508-7333.
Registration is available Mon.-Fri., 8:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. & 2:30 - 4:30 p.m or by appointment from Oct, 1, 2012 to March 1, 2013. Kindergarten and transitional kindergarten registration will close at 4:30 p.m. on March 1, 2013.
For more information and required documentation, visit the district's website at http://www.sancarlos.k12.ca.us/registration/. For faster service, parents/guardians can download and complete the New Enrollment Application Form for 2013-2014 and the Home Language Survey from the district website listed above.
District officials remind families that placing students in their desired neighborhood school is a high priority. In the case where a school is over enrolled, the district will apply additional criteria to determine the order of placement of students.
The district is not expecting to be able to approve any out-of-district charter in the 2013-14 school year.
