SFSU Bestows Outstanding Public Service Award Upon Brian Moura

The Assistant City Manager was honored last weekend at San Francisco State University.

Assistant City Manager Brian Moura has been awarded the Outstanding Public Service Award from San Francisco State University.

 “It’s really exciting and special,” Moura said about the award given to him last weekend.

Moura went on to give a speech to the graduating class and spoke about the changing nature of public service and advised the young students on how they could make an important contribution as they embark on their career in public service.

Moura has received many honors through the years. In 2003 he was awarded as one of Government Technology Magazine’s Top 25 Doers, Dreamers and Drivers. In 2002, the Public Technology Institute gave Moura the Technology Leadership Award.

 He has also been a recipient of the Wes McClure Award for Outstanding Assistant, and the William J. Sheppard Award for Outstanding Young Administrator.

 Moura has been integral in San Carlos being a leader in governmental technology, building one of the first and most highly acclaimed municipal websites of its kind, pioneering efforts to engage citizens on Facebook and Twitter, and orchestrating the epackets.net initiative.

 A graduate of University of California at Berkeley, he holds a master’s degree in Public Administration from California State University at Hayward. He was been a guest lecturer at Stanford University and the University of San Francisco.

 Moura told San Carlos Patch he was honored by the award and recognition.
