Photos: Sequoia Track & Field Athletes Rank in CCS Top 10

The Boys and Girls teams have tough meets coming up this week and month.

As of today, the Boys and Girls Varsity teams are both 2-1, with the toughest part of the schedule ahead with meets against Mills HS (this coming Thursday at Mills, 3pm), 4/12 at home against Aragon, and 4/19 at Carlmont.

Top performers on the boys side include seniors Gabriel Ortiz (sprints), James Beekley (sprints), Abhineet Ram (throws), Oscar Alejandre (hurdles), Manuel Avila (distance) Phil Barron (distance), junior Julian Bertero (throws), and sophomore Ty Dewes (distance).

Top performers on the girls side include seniors Lily Discher (sprints), Bulou Mataitoga (hurdles/jumps), and juniors Anya Tonga (throws), Alex Bliss (sprints), Alyssa Bliss (sprints), Megan Bartoshuk (sprints), Gaia Bouchard-Hall (distance), and freshman Makayla Arvin (sprints).

  • Anya Tonga (11th grade, #4 in CCS in the girls discus, 115'8")
  • Bulou Mataitoga (12th grade, # 9 in CCS in both girls 100m/300m hurdles, 16.64/49.89)
  • Sequoia Girls 4x100m Relay (Discher, Bartoshuk, Bliss, Bliss - #7 in CCS, 50.92)
  • Abhineet Ram (12th grade, #5 in CCS in the boys discus, 139'10")
  • Julian Bertero (11th grade, #6 in CCS in the boys discus, 138'5")
