Currently, one of Belmont’s most dominant sports teams is Carlmont High School woman’s frosh/soph volleyball team, with new coach Taylor Chung. The Lady Scots are currently undefeated in division play with a record of 8 wins, no losses and an overall record including tourney play of 12 wins-3 looses.

Carlmont’s Lady Scots, led by returning sophomores, Jessica Adair (outside), Lauren Tierney (setter), Natalie Tussy (back), Madison Hubblell (opposite), Sabrina Miller (middle) along with freshman Mia Hogan (outside) and Eran Alonso (libero) are dispatching opponents with such tenacity, they have beat all division opponents in just 2 sets except for Burlingame in 3 sets.

Carlmont’s F/S division opponents include Terra Nova, Hillsdale, San Mateo, Aragon, Mills, Burlingame, Menlo Atherton and Terra Nova and they continue into the second round of division play with optimism. The Lady Scots strongest opposition is expected to come in the final week of the season from Burlingame and Menlo Atherton.

Early in the season, the Lady Scots matched Northern California power house Presentation High School in a tourney match and lost by only 2 points in the first set, won the second set and lost by 5 in the third.

The Lady Scots begin a series of road matches next week at Hillsdale and San Mateo, then Aragon and Hillsdale the following week with the final week two great match ups between Burlingame and a show down at home Nov. 1st with Menlo Atherton, last year’s division champion.

It's great they are doing so well, but why are you calling them "Lady Scots"? Are Scots inherently male? Do you call the boys teams "Gentlemen Scots"?
