Opening Friday night at NDNU Theatre, Noel Coward’s Hay Fever is a sophisticatedly sexy and entertaining comic play that also celebrates the music and lyrics of Noel Coward. Some of Coward’s best songs will be performed by NDNU students and veteran musical theatre actor Brent Holland, who has been a featured performer for Beach Blanket Babylon for twelve seasons and the Ghost of Christmas Present in NDNU’s annual “A Christmas Carol: The Gift.”

“The play is a romp: a wacky celebration of all things British,” said director Bruce Williams.

“It takes us into the world of the Bliss family where drama rules and correctness is set on its’ ear. Four unsuspecting guests, invited to the country home of David, Judith, Simon and Sorel Bliss take their chances as they navigate a hilarious weekend from hell.”

The NDNU production features a cast of student actors Danielle Vivion, Margaret Gorrell, Mark Aho, Fiona McVicar, Johnny Villar, Clark Bernard, Audra Batter and Elaina Vielbaum, along with visiting artists Mary Hill, George Metropulos and Brent Holland.

In addition to director Williams, “Hay Fever” also features assistant director Terry Kitagawa, music director Larry Rice, scenic director R. Dutch Fritz, costume designer Barbara Kassal, lighting designer William Springhorn, properties designer Mary Hill, makeup and hair designer Jennifer Earlywine, dialect coach Lynne Sofer, accompanist Jeremy Erman, stage manager John Ballas and assistant stage managers Arnold Orozco Ramirez and Felicia Fox.

The Department of Theatre and Dance is dedicating its 2012-13 Season to Keith Kreitman, Bay Area critic, writer and arts advocate, who passed away in August.

General admission is $10.00. Performances are October 26 and 27 at 7:30 p.m., October 28 at 2 p.m. A student matinee will be held Thursday, Oct. 25 at 1:00 p.m. For tickets or additional information contact the NDNU Theatre box office at (650) 508-3456 or email boxoffice@ndnu.edu.
