Chicken's Ball Returns In April

The San Carlos skit tradition lives on.

The San Carlos Chicken’s Ball is set to kick off next month on April 15, and continue on through April 20,-22, and 26-28.

Started more than seven decades ago by San Carlos school teacher Howard Demeke as an idea to unite the community and raise money for schools, the event – a friendly skit competition - has become a citywide tradition, and one of the longest continuously running shows of all time.

“This bawdy raucous and risqué community tradition raises money for the seven public schools in San Carlos,” said Sonya Sigler.
