Living Well..Backwards

Doing what I was told, I…

…sought fame and found that I no longer had solitude.

…worked hard in school to get a good job, but lost my life’s focus.

…was elected to political office, but couldn’t say or do what I knew was right because I needed to get reelected.

…worked hard to get money and found it didn’t bring the happiness I longed for.

…was treated like a hero when what I did was play with a ball.

…amassed money to get peace and security, but then frantically obsessed on not losing my money.

…became Chief Executive Officer of a corporation which mass-produced things that damaged the planet for my grandchildren.

…valued honesty, but played political games to get the support of my party.

…was a high achiever, but find myself alone.

…attained wealth for security and now have to live in a gated community.

Living backwards, I…

…felt bad for years that I wasn’t perfect, then realized imperfection is part of perfection.

…didn’t stand out much, but I had a lot of friends.

…didn’t fit society’s idea of beauty, but found I was so much more beautiful beyond that.

…hit walls in my life and used the pain to learn how to live well.

…didn’t make much money, but I found security inside myself.

…hated competing, but I worked well with others.

And I was happy.
