San Carlos Writes Letter in Support of Caltrain Electrification

The city manager penned a note to Caltrain Modernization Director Marian Lee supporting the idea.

The city of San Carlos wrote a letter to Ms. Marian Lee, the Acting Director of the Caltrain Modernization Program, to announce its support of the Caltrain electrification.

In the letter, the city, represented by City Manager Jeff Maltbie, said they saw potential for CalTrain Electrification to occur earlier than originally planned through the use of Early Investment Program funds for the Bay Area that could be approved by the California High Speed Rail Board in April of this year.

"A majority of the members of the San Carlos City Council have indicated that they are in favor of CalTrain Electrification which they feel will improve transportation services to San Carlos and Peninsula residents, reduce train noise in adjacent neighborhoods, improve CalTrain revenues and CalTrain's future viability,’ said Maltbie.
