Laurel Street Park will soon be adorned with a new sculpture -- a symbol of balance for a city consistently looking to strike the perfect one.
James Moore's "Balancing Act" - a human-esque figure balancing three multi-colored spheres atop his hand - was chosen from six art proposals submitted to the Arts and Culture Commission.
Located in the city's downtown commercial district on Laurel Street, the sculpture will be unveiled on March 10 at 10 a.m
The sculpture was funded from two sources according to the city: $2,500 remaining from the 75th anniversary celebration artwork fund, and a $10,000 donation by Matteson Development Partners, Inc. for the purchase of public art.
