Randy Royce Named 2011 San Carlos Citizen of the Year

Former mayor will be honored on Jan. 19, 2012.

Randy Royce has been named the 2011 San Carlos Citizen of the Year by the Chamber of Commerce for “his service to the community spanning three decades.”

The former mayor and city council member has been a member of several governmental committee’s in addition to his time spent as council man.

As Mayor, Royce oversaw the historic dissolution of the San Carlos Police Department and spearheaded many innovative ways to save the city money and close its budget deficiency.

On Nov. 4, Royce was unsuccessful in being reelected to the city council.

Before entering politics, Royce spent several decades at Hewlett Packard. He is also a husband and father of two.

A San Carlos resident, Royce is an active photographer and furniture maker.

Mayor Andy Klein made the announcement to a surprised Royce on Dec. 14.
