POLL: Should an Appointed City Council Member Be Allowed to Run in the General Election?

Cameron Johnson dropped out of contention, San Carlos Patch wondering how you feel about the council's desired pledge from applicants to not run in 2013.

Earlier today, city staff informed San Carlos Patch that Cameron Johnson had decided to drop out of the appplicant pool for the city council seat due to the council's preferrence towards the interim council member not running for election in 2013.

Due to the requirement to pledge not to run for election in 2013, I have decided to no longer pursue appointment to the Council," Johnson wrote to Christine Boland. "Please withdraw my application."

Last year, the city council had the same suggestion with the sentiment being that whoever had served in the seat leading up to the election may have an unfair advantage come election time.
