New Youth Advisory Council Sworn In

Eight new members of the San Carlos Youth Advisory Council took the oath of office at Monday's city council meeting.

It was a school night for some, but the eight new members of the arrived at on time and ready to take their oath of office Monday evening.

Being sworn in by San Carlos City Clerk Christine Boland were: Kyler Jerome, 7th grade ; Jack Carlson, 10th grade (CHS); Connor Abernathy, 10th grade CHS; Clair Porter, 11th grade CHS; Alex Kumamotto, 9th grade CHS; Jake Kumamotto, 10th grade CHS; Josef Gottlieb, 8th grade Central Middle School; and Matt Barritua, 12 grade

Retiring member Kevin Harris was honored for his service. Kevin will be heading off to Northwestern University this fall.

The all-volunteer group advises the , Parks and Recreation Department and the Youth Center staff on activities, events and programs that will address the needs of San Carlos students. 

In addition, YAC does volunteer work throughout the city, including fundraising for projects such as the San Carlos Youth Center.

Following the swearing in, the students and their familie were treated to refreshments in the City Hall lobby organized by Mike Becker, Recreation Coordinator for the Youth Center and Youth Advisory Council Advisor.
