San Carlos Patch obtained the 2012 budget for the city. The more than $28 million budget allots nearly 50 percent for police and fire; 28 percent for police, 21 percent for fire. The general fund is the second highest with 22 percent.

Community Development and Public Works make do with seven and six percent of the vote, respectively.
