Downtown Artwork Revealed in Laurel Street Park

James Moore's 'Balancing Act' was unveiled this morning downtown San Carlos.

San Carlos welcomed its newest artistic addition to downtown Laurel Street Park this morning, as it unveiled 'Balancing Act,' a blue statuesque work that was selected to grace the busy commercial area.

Mayor Andy Klein was on-hand for the unveiling along with several city and staff members to commemorate the event at 10 a.m. downtown.

James Moore's "Balancing Act" - a human-esque figure balancing three multi-colored spheres atop his hand - was chosen from six art proposals submitted to the Arts and Culture Commission.

The sculpture was funded from two sources according to the city: $2,500 remaining from the 75th anniversary celebration artwork fund, and a $10,000 donation by Matteson Development Partners, Inc. for the purchase of public art.
