Do You Think San Carlos Should Ban Styrofoam Containers?

The city will discuss this possibility as Monday night's city council meeting.

Do you think the city should ban styrofoam containers? Do you support the use of compostable containers instead?

“Over 45 of the 470 cities in California and several California counties have ordinances that ban the use ofpolystyrene food containers,” city documents state.”In San Mateo County, 4 North County cities (Millbrae, South San Francisco, Pacifica and San Bruno) have polystyrene ban ordinances that went in to effect in 2008 and 2010. These ordinances were written and are enforced by each City.”

City staff will recommend at tonight’s meeting the city council hold an outreach meetings with restaurant and eatery representatives to discuss a potential ordinance to ban styofoam containers.
