Crestview Park Update Meeting Tonight: Time to Turf?

The city will provide an updates Thursday night on the Crestview Park improvement project. Some residents are opposing the proposal to replace the park's grass with synthetic turf.

The City of San Carlos will host a community meeting Thursday night to update citizens on the project to improve Crestview Park.

Two updated concepts for the park have been developed based on the public's input at the City's March 5th community meeting and comments received since that time.

One topic expected to be discussed will be the proposal to replace the grass at Crestview Park with artificial turf.

A group of residents, under the name "Save Crestview Park" have been outspoken about keeping the natural grass at the park.

In a recent Letter to the Editor, the group's spokesman Mike Thompson said,
"One of the proposed San Carlos city plan is to do a crestview park renovation involving converting of grass turf to artificial turf, as well as other changes. our main objection is to the change to artificial turf instead of real grass."

According to the City of San Carlos website, the updated concepts to be presented at the meeting include improvements to the play equipment, basketball court and parking at Crestview Park.

The meeting will be held Thursday at 7:00 p.m. in the Community Meeting Room on the second floor of the San Carlos Library.
