Two Men Arrested After Failing To Steal Copper Wire From PG&E

The two men were booked for grand theft, narcotics possession, resisting arrest, conspiracy and probation violation.

Two men on probabtion out of Santa Clara County were arrested at around 3:15 a.m. Friday morning after attempting to steal munerous amounts of copper wire they placed in a wheelbarrow near the back of the yard from the PG&E yard on 275 Industrial Road, police said.

Methamphetamine was later found inside their car. The men, Ronald Schmiedeberg - who also has an outstanding warrant - and Ryan Paradiso, both 34, were arrested and charged with grand theft, conspiracy, resisting arrest, narcotic possession and probation violation. 

Their attempted burlgary was captured on surveillance.

According to Sgt. Vincent Bedolla, deputies arrived on scene and immediately set up a perimeter of the yard.  The two suspects were found inside of the yard and fled on foot once a Sheriff K-9 was deployed for a search of the yard.  Deputies that were positioned on the freeway side of the yard were able to detain both suspects after a short foot pursuit.

The case is still under investigation and the San Mateo County Sheriffs Office is currently analyzing evidence and following up leads.
