Two Arrested For Allegedly Stealing Identity of San Carlan

TwoSan Jose residents were arrested for stealing the identity of a San Carlos woman.

Two San Jose residents were arrested for stealing the identity of a San Carlos woman, using it to open a credit card on which they spent $2,698.18, police said.

On January 27th, San Jose police officers and Santa Clara County REACT (Rapid Enforcement Allied Computer Team) arrested Rodrigo Tuliao, 52, and Gayla Cortes Sandiego, 32, after an investigation started by the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office San Carlos Bureau on Dec. 13, 2010.

 According to Lt. Ray Lunny, Tuliao was related to the victim who lives in San Carlos.

The victim, whose name has not been released, called police after her bank called to ask her if she had opened a credit card. When she told them she had not, they connected her to the Sheriff’s office and the banks fraud unit.

 The two suspects face felony charges of conspiracy, identity theft and grand theft. They were booked in San Mateo County jail and were arraigned on Jan. 31st. Both Tuliao and Sandiegi remain in custody on a $100,000 bail and will face a puliminary hearing on Feb. 14th.
