Three Kids With Airsoft Gun Mistaken for Armed Suspect

By Bay City News Service:

San Mateo County sheriff's deputies responded to an elementary school in Portola Valley on reports of an armed suspect, but instead found three juveniles with an airsoft gun Monday, a sheriff's spokeswoman said.

The report of a suspect in a vehicle possibly armed with a rifle came in around 4:20 p.m. near Ormondale Elementary School at 4575 Alpine Road, sheriff's spokeswoman Rebecca Rosenblatt said.

Deputies eventually located three juveniles with at least one replica gun, Rosenblatt said.

School has not been in session at the campus since June 13, according to the Portola Valley School District.

The case has been sent to the San Mateo County District Attorney's Office for review, Rosenblatt said.
