Take a Virtual Ride-Along With Sheriff's Deputies

With the help of social media, San Carlos residents can "ride-along" with sheriff's deputies in their patrol car Saturday night.

What's it like to patrol the streets of San Carlos on a Saturday night? What type of calls to San Mateo County sheriff's deputies respond to between 6 p.m. and midnight?

Thanks to Twitter and Facebook, San Carlos residents will be able to join the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office @SMCSheriff for the first-ever virtual ride-along this Saturday, March 2.

Experience the excitement and action of a night with sheriff's deputies by using the hashtag #SMCVRA.

Deputy Rebecca Rosenblatt will be riding in the patrol car with two other deputies and will be tweeting the deputies' activity every 15-20 minutes from her iPad. She will also be uploading photos to Facebook. Residents can follow the deputies and post their own comments and questions at #SMCVRA

"This virtual ride-along will give deputies an opportunity to interact with community members. It's been very successful in Palo Alto and in other cities around the country," said Rosenblatt.
