Second Indecent Exposure Incident Leads Police to Suspect

A quick-thinking woman whom the suspect had just exposed himself to, was able to get the license plate number of the car he was driving and called Belmont police. The same man is suspected of exposing himself to another woman on Jan. 20.

Belmont police say they believe they have identified the man who twice exposed himself to women walking on Hiller Street in Belmont. While an arrest has not yet been made, Belmont police Lt. Tony Psaila said officers are sure they have identified the right man.

On Saturday, at about 5:30 p.m., a man driving a dark red 1990s Toyota Camry exposed himself to a woman while she was walking her dog on Hiller Street.

The woman immediately called Belmont police, and the man fled. The woman was able to get the license plate on the Toyota, and officers learned it was registered out of the area.

The incident comes less than a week after a similar report of a man, matching the same description, exposed himself to a woman, also walking on Hiller Street.

After the Jan. 20 incident, investigators obtained an image of a driver and vehicle consistent with the suspect description from a security camera mounted on a home in the neighborhood, Lt. Patrick Halleran said.

While conducting a follow-up investigation, Belmont police officers found a car in Belmont which matched the description of the car that was driven in the earlier indecent exposure case.

Soon after, officers found a Belmont man who also matched the descriptions given by the women in both cases. The man was interviewed, and a report is being sent to the San Mateo County District Attorney's office requesting charges be filed against the Belmont man.

The suspect’s name is not being released at this time as charges are pending.

Wonder if this could possibly be the same man who, a few months back, exposed himself to a Central Middle Schooler near campus. In that instance the girl reported an occupied child seat in the back which made it additionally disturbing. Any chance this is the same guy? Not sure if there was an update on the San Carlos report.

Amazing that we allow people like this in our towns and we don't simply just drive them out. Physically, if necessary.

kuuipo: they caught the 18 yr old kid. CG: How would you accomplish what you wrote?? How do we "not allow" them into our cities? 'They' are everywhere. Shopping next to us, sitting next to us, walking next to us. How would we drive them out physically? They are ILL and they need help.
