San Carlos Woman Gets 13 Years in Prison

Jennifer Lynn Dickerson got jail time for robbing a San Carlos home and stealing a car. She faces additional charges for fleeing a courthouse and drug possession.

Jennifer Lynn Dickerson, the woman who fled a Redwood City courthouse in October while she was being tried for burglary and car theft, was sentenced to 13 years in prison, District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe said.

Dickerson, 37, will serve her sentence in a women’s facility in Chowchilla first, Wagstaffe said. But she will remain in county jail until mid-summer while she awaits her pending felony court cases for fleeing the court house and drug possession.

“The additional charges she faces, should she be found guilty, could tack on another 5 to 10 years,” Wagstaffe said. “Technically this is three strikes which could earn her 25 to life, but since her other offenses aren’t violent crimes, I don’t think we’re going to try for that. But they are still pretty major.”

On Oct. 27, 2008, Dickerson broke into the home of San Carlans Steven Desedare and Randi Kutnewski. She stole a laptop and a set of car keys, and proceeded to steal their Lexus from the driveway.

A note—later determined to be handwritten by Dickerson—was left in the house’s window asking about the sale of the car. The car was found by police soon after abandoned in a Daly City parking lot.

Dickerson’s fingerprints and her uniform from D&M Towing Company were found inside the car. Dickerson had been fired from the tow company but had never returned her uniform.

Then, on Nov. 17, Dickerson fled the Redwood City courthouse after a jury gave her a guilty conviction following a five-day trial.

She was found Jan. 7 hiding inside the attic of a friend’s house in San Bruno. Cops found her and methamphetamines inside the room they believe she was staying in. One man she was staying with, Michael McDonald, 47, is being prosecuted for a separate car theft charge along with illegal weapons and drug charges.

Dickerson will stand trial this summer for her pending charges.
