Robbery Attempt Foiled Near House of Bagels

The victim was approached by three men demanding his wallet in front of the Laurel Street bagel shop.

A man sitting in his car in front of the House of Bagels on Laurel Street in San Carlos Monday night still has his wallet and another man is in jail for trying to steal that wallet in a robbery attempt.

According to the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office, at about 7:50 p.m. Monday, deputies received a report of an attempted robbery in front of the San Carlos House of Bagels.

Deputies arrived on scene within moments of the original call and began searching the area. The victim told deputies that he had been parked and seated in his car when he was approached by three men. One man placed his hand in his waistband, simulating a weapon and demanded that the victim give him his wallet. Deputies say that out of fear, the victim did not give up his wallet, and the three men left the scene on foot.

Deputies located the three suspects in nearby, matching the descriptions provided by the victim. The victim positively identified one of them; 30-year-old Andre Freeman of Redwood City, as the individual who attempted to rob him of his wallet.

Suspect Freeman was transported and booked into the Maguire Correctional Facility without incident.
