Restaurant Employee Robbed at Knifepoint in October, Police Reveal

An employee of the popular Office Bar & Grill was robbed on Oct. 23.

It was just before 2 a.m., and they hid in the early morning darkness, two men, dressed darkly and armed with knives. The hectic Saturday night of late October had dissolved into the quiet of another Sunday morning. A man, unidentified by police, left his job at The Office Bar & Grill on Eaton Avenue, where he had been helping to close.

The Office employee drove home and wondered if he had locked the restaurant's back door -- a common slip of mind that caused him to return to work to double check.

He parked his car in front of 1120 Eaton Ave. and walked back to The Office, toward Cowgil Alley from Eaton, when the two men stopped him, wielding knives, demanding his wallet.

“As the victim gave the suspect his wallet, suspect-1 slashed the victim's forearm with the knife, causing a 3 to 4 inch laceration,” police records said.  “Both suspects then ran off towards Laurel Street.”

The two men have not yet been caught, though the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office says the case is still under investigation and they are following up on leads.
