Redwood City Nanny Forged $45,000 in Checks from Family

More details emerge in the case of a local woman recently arrested on 95 counts of grand theft and forgery.

OUTSIDE SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- More details are emerging in the case of a local woman recently arrested on 95 counts of grand theft and forgery.

The San Mateo County District Attorney's Office indicated Wednesday that the suspect, 28-year-old Sandy Delgado of Redwood City, appeared in court Tuesday and was arraigned on the charges.

The DA's Office said Delgado worked as a nanny and housekeeper for a family in unincorporated Redwood City for several years.

Last month, in January, her employer discovered a forged $600 check paid from the family's account that they had not authorized.

At further look into their bank account records, the family discovered an additional 32 forged checks paid out.

At that point, the family contacted the Sheriff's Office, which launched an investigation. The family told the Sheriff's Office that they suspected Delgado.

Sheriff's detectives advised the family to confront Delgado about the forged checks, and to secretly record the conversation.

The family did so, and Delgado admitted the forgeries. She reportedly said she needed the money for "the necessities of life."

However, the detectives did not immediately arrest her at that time, and as the family did further research into their accounts, they discovered another 63 forged checks, for a total loss of $45,265, stretched out over the four years Delgado had been working for the family.

Delgado was arrested by Sheriff's deputies on Saturday, Feb 2. She is currently in custody on $950,000 bail.

Delgado is scheduled to appear in court again on Feb. 14 to enter a plea and to set a preliminary hearing date.

Evelyn - that is the first thought that popped into my head too. I would DEFINITELY notice if $45,000 was missing from my bank account! Guess it all depends how much you had in there to begin with.

This family should have known what was happening with their account, how could they not notice. I dont care how much money you have in any account you have to keep on top of it.

45,000.00 divided by 48 months, is approx $950.00 a month. I'm sure some months may have been higher, and some lower. Now if this woman did shopping for the family or paid household expenses like pest control or landscaping, she could have padded the bills or even paid those people herself and turned in an inflated fake bill. Obviously these people are wealthy or they couldn't afford a nanny in the first place. Sad though, people are always looking to swindle, its funny though, her excuse, necesseties of life, really?
get the abusers February 07, 2013 at 07:30 PM
ANY ONE who forges anothers account must answer to it . Todays generration has a attitude of ENTITLEMENT . Narcissitic , Antisocials , Socialpaths ,is among many dangerous personalitys that abuses and violates children ,elderly and animals. They are experts of charm to gain trust . The abuser will turn on the niceness after the pointed target is disposed of to show that the problem person was the reason for their behavior . They use people as scapegoats to deflect themself and blames others for the problems . They speak with a double tonge to send a message of intent that is taken and targeted at the victim to cause distress in wonderment what they really meant Financial exportation runs high in ones own family members and other trusted people.A malignant narcissist/sociopath ANTISOCIAL combo is the worst for children, because then the mother enables and covers up the abuse . http://www.lovefraud.com/blog/2012/01/26/mortgage-fraud-and-murder/ http://psychopathyawareness.wordpress.com/2011/07/19/partners-in-evil-the-psychopath-and-malignant-narcissist-combo/ http://www.openexchange.org/features/JAS09/somberg.html http://www.ehow.com/info_8136388_warning-signs-someone-capable-murder.html http://www.lovefraud.com/blog/2011/01/17/sociopaths-and-credit-cards/ http://paularenee.wordpress.com/identifying-a-narcissistic-sociopath/
