Police Chief Urges San Carlans To Sign-Up For SMC Alerts

Greg Rothaus discusses the importance of emergency alerts.

The tornado warning has been lifted, but Police Chief Greg Rothaus urges all San Carlos residents to sign-up with San Mateo County Emergency Alerts.

These alerts are delivered as text messages so subscribers receive information immediately.

“If you’re not at your radio or computer, you could be walking around outside while there is a tornado warning,” said Rothaus, who holds the title of Captain with the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office but serves the city as police chief. “We’re really going to make a push for the SMC alerts. I think it’s critical.”
