No Contest Pleas Entered in San Carlos Burglary Case

Defendants pleaded 'no contest' Friday for crimes related to burglaries committed in San Carlos on November of 2011 and March of 2012.

Agustin Acosta Lopez and Jose Manuel Torres each pleaded 'no contest' for crimes related to burglaries committed in San Carlos on November of 2011 and March of 2012.

Both defendants were placed on three years supervised probation, on condition of county jail time for each and will be under chemical testing for alcohol and drugs. They were also ordered to pay just over $12,500 restitution to their victims.

The defendants are in custody on $50,000 bail.

In another case heard Friday, a trial date for Demoria James Mays, accused of an assault with a handgun in October of 2009, has been set for Oct. 15 at 8:45 a.m. in Redwood City.

Mays was arrested in San Carlos, several days after an alleged incident involving his ex-girlfriend in San Francisco.

He was originally placed under arrest on a parole violation warrant. Mays was arraigned on March 4, 2010 and the October date is the 10th setting of the trial date.

The defendant remains out of custody on a $150,000 bail bond.
