On Wednesday evening, San Mateo County sheriff's deputies responded to a report of a suspicious man contacting residents in the 1100 block of Woodland in San Carlos.
The man told a resident he was with the Sheriff's Office and displayed some type of badge and that he had recently moved to an unknown location on Laurel Street and was meeting neighbors.
The Sheriff's Office confirmed that no personnel member was going door to door during that time in the area.
Witnesses also say the man was carrying candy canes in his hand. He was last seen walking south on Cedar Street from Greenwood. Deputies conducted a thorough search of the area Wednesday evening, however, they could not located the man.
He was described as an Hispanic male, early 30's, six-feet tall, and heavy set. Clothing described as a red ball cap, possibly a Mexican flag insignia and a black or dark colored sweat suit.
The suspicious incident is currently being investigated by sheriff's deputies.
