In Wake of SFO Crash, Blood Banks Say Supply is Adequate

Donors are no longer needed immediately to help those injured in Saturday's plane crash.

A posting on the Blood Centers of the Pacific website reports that as of this morning, all area hospitals have enough blood on hand to treat those injured in the Asiana plane crash.

And similarly, Red Cross Bay Area tweeted that they, too, are in good shape with blood supplies.

@RedCrossBayArea: "Thank you but we have what we need to respond to the SFO crash. Please keep the passengers, crew & families in your thoughts."

On Saturday and Sunday, the local blood banks were asking for donors, specifically those with type O-negative blood. However, thanks the quick response of donors, enough blood has been collected to treat the victims who remain hospitalized.
