The Holly Gas and Diesel station was robbed at gunpoint Sunday at 9:35 p.m., police said.
Sgt. Vincent Bedolla said a man described as a stocky Hispanic male, around 25, dressed in black with a black cloth covering his face, walked into the station and held the store up with a handgun, demanding one of the clerks to open the cash register.
The store was empty other than the two clerks on duty.
Reports say the suspect fired his weapon at the ceiling of the store at one point. No one was injured in the robbery. The suspect escaped with an unknown amount of money.
An extensive but inconclusive area check was done by police.
The case is still under investigation. Anyone with relevant information about the robbery is encouraged to contact the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office Investigation Bureau at (650) 599-1536 or the Anonymous Tip Line at 1-800-547-2700.
