Chief: 'Burglaries Decreased by 23% Last Year'

Representatives from the San Mateo County Sheriff's San Carlos Police Bureau met with residents at a standing-room-only Town Hall meeting last week.

San Carlos police chief, Capt. Greg Rothaus was joined by representatives from the San Mateo County Sheriff's San Carlos Police Bureau last week at a Town Hall meeting to discuss a variety of public safety issues, including the spike in residential burglaries.

The well-attended meeting was held in the San Carlos City Council chambers.

In addition to addressing crime trends, the chief shared his department's goals.

"Our number one goal is to help the community feel safe," said Rothaus.

In addition to outlining the department's plan for keeping residents, Rothaus and other representatives from the sheriff's office discussed the status of residential burglary investigations, the citizen report management system, emergency preparedness, school safety and the neighborhood watch program.
