Update: Parolee-at-Large Arrested in San Carlos Identified

The pursuit ended when the suspect crashed his vehicle in the vicinity of Arroyo and Orange avenues in San Carlos.

An armed man San Mateo County Sheriff's deputies captured last night after a wild pursuit through San Carlos, has been identified as 39-year-old Marc Dubois, of Redwood City. Dubois, a parolee-at-large was arrested at the intersection of Arroyo and Orange avenues on Friday and charged on three counts: assault with a deadly weapon, felony evading and possession of a controlled substance/drug paraphernalia.

According to Deputy Rebecca Rosenblatt of the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office, on Friday, Aug. 16 at about 5:56pm, a parolee-at-large who fled from San Mateo Country Sheriff’s Deputies in San Carlos the previous day and has been known to carry a firearm, was observed once again on Friday.

Rosenblatt said Sheriff’s Office Street Crimes Detectives currently assigned to the County Gang Task Force attempted to take him into custody at which time he attempted to run them over with his car. 

The suspect fled the area in his vehicle through San Carlos and Redwood City, ramming several patrol vehicles along the way. The pursuit ended when the suspect crashed his vehicle in the vicinity of Arroyo Ave and Orange Ave, in San Carlos.

He was taken into custody at approximately 6:08 pm and illegal narcotics were located in his vehicle. He was transported to the hospital as a result of injuries sustained in the crash. 

"The successful resolution of this case was due to the heroic efforts of Deputies and assistance from members of the Redwood City Police Department, thankfully none of whom required medical transport," said Rosenblatt.

A man is in custody tonight after attempting to flee San Mateo County Sheriff's deputies near downtown San Carlos late Friday afternoon. 

According to a statement released by the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office, at about 5:00 p.m. Friday, a known wanted parolee who previously fled from sheriff’s deputies in San Carlos and officers from Atherton Police Department, and was known to carry a firearm, was spotted in the area.

When sheriff’s deputies working the Gang Task Force attempted to arrest the suspect, he attempted to run over the deputies. The suspect fled the area traveling through San Carlos in a vehicle.

Deputies say the suspect then tried ramming several patrol vehicles following him. The suspect’s vehicle was finally disabled, and he was removed from the vehicle. The suspect is in custody, and all deputies are unharmed after being medically evaluated at the scene.

The suspect will be booked on numerous charges including narcotics found on him at the scene.
