The retirement of our outstanding Fire Chief, the one who pulled the department out of the ditch and put it back together, went unnoticed by the City of San Carlos, except for a lot of phony praise from Andy Klein in the Daily Journal. After all the digusting, nasty attacks by Andy on the Chief at public meetings, his praise rings hollow.
Although the city sent out no notice of the retirement of the Fire Chief, it did send out a notice today that Robert Weil, the Director of Public Works, is resigning effective June 1. That smells very odd to me. Robert came in and turned that department around, he has a lot of projects in the work, and his stated reason for resigning is very generic, very hollow. I know he is a religious man; I wonder if the sliminess of San Carlos government was just too much for him.
That leaves us with no Mayor; a poor excuse for a Vice Mayor; a new City Manager, good choice; an old Asst. City Manager, who is an embarrassment and should have left long ago; an acting Financial Services Director who is doing an excellent job while she waits for some consultant to search for someone from elsewhere who can do a better job; Doug Long, who makes $175,000+/year to run a department with 6 or so employees; and Al Savay, who runs everything else(not very well in my opinion.)

If the world comes to an end on Saturday as predicted, I'm betting Brian Moura will still be in his office on Monday.
Tune in Monday night. It should be interesting to hear what the Andy-Randy remnant of the oldTroika have to say now that they don't have a majority and can't just ram through their nutty ideas. I haven't heard even a hint of contrition from Andy, and who knows what Randy will say about any given topic on any given day?
