Park and Rec deadlocked on Crestview Park turf

Many people came to the 6/5 San Carlos park and rec meeting and spoke in support of continuing multi-use neighborhood park and soccer field using grass. No one spoke in favor of turf. Amazingly, the commission voted 2-2 on the turf/ grass issue and the final decision was simply passed on to be made by city council. Despite an apparently complete absense of community support for turf at Crestview and a frightening lack of recent data on field availability/ utilization, two commissioners voted in support of turf. Our city will be better served with commissioners able to make data driven recommendations especially if they believe it necessary to override the voice of the people.
