Who should take this workshop?
Anyone who makes repetitive movements, in other words, all of us!!! We could all benefit since we are all subject to sitting at a desk or behind the wheel of the car, sometimes for long periods of time. However the workshop will be most beneficial to active people who, when they work out, are performing the same exercise movement repeatedly, for example cyclists, runners and triathletes.

Why should you take this workshop?
If we continue to contract a muscle, the fibers of the muscle shorten, building new muscle fibers but growing bulk rather than length. A balance between contraction and relaxation needs to be achieved. In the workshop we will learn to hold poses in isometric contraction, i.e. static hold, where the joint angle and the muscle length doesn’t change. This builds strength but also provides flexibility, creating safe strengthening and stretching of the muscle fibers. In addition, a few carefully selected poses will be held for longer periods of time, encouraging the muscles to relax completely to create deeper opening of the body to access the connective tissue.

We will perform a number of sequences, which will be your “go to” poses to create safe stretching of the muscles and you will receive a “cheat sheet” to take home with you, so you can continue with your good effort to release muscle tension on your own.
