A free public lecture by US Geological Survey geographer Nathan Wood

The movie "The Impossible," now showing in theaters, portrays the destruction of the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami.

Recent tsunami disasters in the Pacific Ocean testify to their destructive power. Are similar events likely to happen in the Pacific Northwest?

Geographic research is helping to understand the risk, assisting planners with developing effective emergency response plans.

Which coastal communities are at greatest risk, and what can be done now to prepare for future Cascadia tsunamis?

Can't make it to Menlo Park? This lecture will be livestreamed here, and will be archived for free viewing on our website 2-3 days after the event.
