Rotary Donation a Slam Dunk for Burton Park

One of the new basketball hoops in Burton Park will bear the San Carlos Rotary emblem.

As Burton Park Phase II takes shape, the San Carlos Rotary Club is looking ahead to the new basketball hoops that will be installed along Cedar Street. To help fund the new hoops, Rotarians donated $2,500 to the city's Parks & Recreation Department last Friday.

At its weekly lunch meeting at Piacere, Rotary president Bernie Mellott handed over a check for $2,500 to new Park & Rec director Christine Boland.

According to club spokesperson Terry Wilson, the San Carlos Rotary Club was chartered in San Carlos in 1949; and it has been a active leader in addressing and financing the needs of countless projects and equipment throughout town over these nearly 65 years. The Rotary emblem will be installed on one of the new basketbal hoops along Cedar Street.
