PG&E to Vent Natural Gas on Thursday

Those in the area of Commercial Street and Old County Road may notice the smell of natural gas. This is normal and safe during the venting procedure.

PG&E has informed the City of San Carlos that they will be venting natural gas throughout the day on Thursday, June 27, at Commercial Street and Old County Road in San Carlos.

The venting procedure will allow PG&E crews to safely complete work on the new automated valve that they are in the process of installing at this location.

The venting of natural gas will occur at various times throughout the day for short intervals, and anyone in the area may smell natural gas while gas is released from the pipeline in a safe and controlled manner.

Because there may be a slight gas odor and/or noise associated with this work, PG&E has also sent out an IVR (pre-recorded phone call) with this notification to all customers in the surrounding area.

PG&E says that although the situation is safe, anyone with concerns may call 800-743-5000 or go to www.PGE.com/gas. Local PG&E gas service will not be affected.
