Patch Readers Vote 888 'I migliori'

The inaugural "Best Of" Patch poll results in 888 placing first among Italian restaurants in San Carlos.

You walk into the bright, sunny room and are greeted by a bellowing, “Bueno Sera!” from Vito Bellantuono, chef and owner of Eight-Eighty-Eight, the beloved Italian restaurant in downtown San Carlos, and the winner of the inaugural “Best of Patch” contest.

The ristorante received 26 votes – or 23 percent of the vote, after 113 readers gave the opinions on which restaurant served the best Italian cuisine.

Eight-Eighty-Eight – named after its address on Laurel Street - serves authentic Italian, inspired from the central regions of the country, and cooks with the freshest ingredients.

The Pansotti alla Salvia is a favorite, as is the stuffed baby zucchini fresh from the farmer’s market. For seafood lovers,  Vito – as he’s known to regulars – prepares a marinated cracked crab, Sicilian style. And for those with a sweet tooth, the Frutta di Bosco dessert is always popular, or the more traditional, and very strong, tiramisu.

Serving Lunch Monday-Friday from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.; dinner Monday-Thursday from 5-9p.m.; and weekends until 10 p.m.; and closed Sundays, the small but cozy space specializes in romantic dates, fresh food, and authentic experience.
