City Manager Jeff Maltbie announced the appointment of Crystal Mui as the new City Clerk and Director of Community Relations for the City of San Carlos.

As Acting Director of Community Relations/City Clerk for the past 5 months, Crystal has not only transitioned seamlessly into the position, but has proven that she is well equipped to take on the task.

Crystal started in San Carlos in October 2006 as the Administrative Assistant to the Administrative Services Director.  After some repositioning in the organization, she moved into the City Clerk's office to serve as the Administrative Assistant for the department.

In the City Clerk's office, she began taking on more responsibilities and demonstrated the ability to use her new knowledge to improve and streamline processes.

Crystal began her career in the public sector as an intern for the City of Burlingame in 2002.  Within 4 years, she was promoted twice and left the organization as the Executive Assistant for the City Manager/City Attorney's office.

Raised in Millbrae, Crystal has spent most of her life on the Peninsula. In 2006, she graduated from San Francisco State University with a Bachelor's degree, and is currently in the process of achieving a Certified Municipal Clerk (CMC) certification.

City Manager Jeff Maltbie said "Crystal brings with her strong coordinating and organizational skills and has excelled in her work as the Acting Director.  I know that she will continue to be a major contributor to the City in the years ahead."
