Strong Leadership Has Helped Our City and Our Schools To Thrive: Please Vote This Week

Randy Royce, Ron Collins, and Seth Rosenblatt: Strong Leadership For Our City and For Our Schools. Please Vote This Week to Support Strong Public Schools and Support The City of Good Living

As we head into this upcoming election week, there is much to feel good about as a resident of “The City of Good Living.”  Over the last two years, leadership within the City Council and within the San Carlos School District has succeeded in curbing costs at a time when other communities are reeling under massive budget deficits because of chronic overspending.

Under the leadership of Randy Royce and the rest of the council, they have restructured the city budget in order to save about $3.7 million dollars annually from the operating budget while also creating an operating surplus of about $400,000.    Services have not declined.  Response times for emergencies have not suffered.  And, anyone who takes a walk along Laurel Street on any evening of the week will see a downtown bustling with more commercial activity now than it has seen in the last six years.  The City of Good Living continues to live up to its name.  Finally, as Ron Collins’ endorsement by the San Mateo Times  illustrates, he is also the kind of local leadership we need on San Carlos City Council.

Within the San Carlos School District, Superintendent Craig Baker has transformed “Business as Usual” for our public school district.  Over the last few years, in addition to supporting a top quality educational program for our children, Baker has also helped to launch both a preschool program and vibrant afterschool and summer program for our community.  In addition, he continues to look for collaborative partnerships with organizations like San Carlos Children Theater and Healthy Cities Tutoring.  School board members like Seth Rosenblatt have worked hard to help Baker realize his operational goals within the San Carlos School District.   Baker was able to enhance our school’s programs all while reducing the school’s operating budget and bringing spending under control at a time when fiscal responsibility is critical to the survival of any school district.

It has been a difficult four years for both the San Carlos School District and the City of San Carlos. We do not need politicians looking to use our local government seats as a launching pad for county or statewide office.  We need people focused on their job with little interest in political “job hopping.”  Luckily, we now have excellent leadership in place to help us continue to thrive.   Great city services and great schools will translate to increased quality of life and strong real estate values for citizens of San Carlos.   Unlike other cities and towns throughout the state, San Carlos has much to be proud of with great leadership already in place.

To that end, I would urge my fellow residents to consider supporting those candidates who have shown the leadership to move this community forward.   Please consider Randy Royce and Ron Collins for City Council and Seth Rosenblatt for school board.  These are the leaders who can help San Carlos continue to thrive.  Ron Collins has received many endorsements and represents the kind of local leadership we need. We need people focused on San Carlos.  Ron Collins, Randy Royce and Seth Rosenblatt are the right leaders for our critical city services.
