U-Turn: Chinese Buffet Closes Shop

Another prime piece of Belmont real estate is now vacant.

U-Buffet, the Chinese all-you-can-eat restaurant that has been the anchor store in the Belmont Village Shopping Center for several years, has permanently closed.

This leaves another vacancy at the gateway to Belmont at the corner of Ralston Avenue and El Camino Real. Blockbuster video store, which is across the street from U Buffet

How about an antique store like there used to be on the corners.

Love the Farrell's idea at the Blockbuster location, however parking is crummy. A good bakery would be nice also where the U Buffet was. We certainly don't need another bank or phone store!

Really happy to see them go (not a fan of moldy deserts). I'd love to see a toy store come back to Belmont. A great breakfast spot would be welcomed too.

No, we already have 3 on that block (2 of which are good -- Monster Sushi and Me.N.U, so what's the point? No more chains. A good pub-like place would be great. Look at those places on Laurel Street in San Carlos, with people spilling out of the front doors. U Buffet building has a perfectly good unused patio area that if spiffed up with some planters as an El Camino buffer, and perhaps heat lamps, would be an ideal gathering spot. NO MORE BANKS!
